2 Corinthians 5

"Wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new."

I accepted Christ into my life over 20 years ago.  As soon as I invited Him into my heart, I was a changed person.  I no longer needed to look for what was missing in all the wrong places.  Before I knew Christ, I would look for what was missing in my life in a bottle, sex, all the wrong places.  As soon as I found Him...all of these desires left me.  I was truly a new person inside and out.  The "flame" of the Holy Spirit burned bright within me.

But time goes buy and the flame becomes dim, that is when it is time to be careful of allowing the old person to sneak back in.  I must daily remember the bright "flame" of the Spirit that once burned within me.  I pray daily that it will once again blaze so that on that day that I am face to face with my Lord and Savior, He says to me: "well done faithful servant"!

Being thankful during times of recession

Phil.4:12 - Be content in hunger, not just in plenty.

Our recent economy has put a lot of us into "times of hunger", as people lose their jobs, homes and even their faith.  How do we remain content during times of hunger?

  1. The first thing to do is be thankful for all we do have.  Praise God for the eternal life He has promised us through our faith in Jesus His son.
  2. Remember that God is in control.  He will provide for all of our needs.  He will never abandon us in times of need.
  3. Every thing we have on this earth is just "THINGS"!  We should be more concerned about how we live our lives; are we living for God and His plan or for our own comfort?
We need to be content in our lives and thank God daily for all He has given us; even in lean times.  Maybe especially in lean times, we can praise God for all He will do for us.  He will protect us, feed us, cloth us and provide for all we NEED!
